Towards an active nation

you may be aware that earlier this week Sport England published its new strategy for 2017-21 – Towards an Active Nation – . Visit Sports England web site for more details. The strategy outlines Sport England’s plan to take forward many of the actions and priorities identified in Sporting Future published late last year, as well as clarifying how and where its remit is changing.

The Ministerial foreword sets the tone for the strategy – this is not ‘more of the same’ or tinkering with an existing plan. This is a significantly different plan and framework, with a much clearer focus on tackling the huge issue of inactivity.

The strategy outlines in some detail both the new investment principles and investment programmes. We are expecting more detailed investment criteria to come in the next month or so, but a number of key drivers in the strategy to inform our thinking are already emerging.

To assist us in better understanding the proposals, Sport England’s Executive Director, Community Sport, Mike Diaper, has kindly agreed to deliver the keynote address at the Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership’s Annual General Meeting and Partners Event, scheduled for Tuesday 7th June 2016,commencing at 11am. You are cordially invited to join us for this event, and if you haven’t already done so you can register your attendance by clicking HERE

The event will also give you an opportunity to hear about the work of the Partnership over the past year and to meet with the HSP team and representatives of our many partner organisations.
