Record turnout for our Annual General Meeting and Partner event.
We were delighted to welcome more than 130 guests to our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday for a full Agenda programme. The formal AGM business was dealt with first. The minutes from last year’s AGM, proposed amendments to HSP governance arrangements and the associated changes to the constitution were all approved. Partnership Director John O’Callaghan gave an overview about the Partnership and our work over the past twelve months. An inspiring presentation by Mike Diaper, Executive Director Community Sport for Sport England followed.
Mike gave an insight into some of the key themes of the new Sport England Strategy: Towards An Active Nation. After drilling down into some of the detail as it relates to community sport and health, he also gave an update into the success and progress of Sport England’s national This Girl Cancampaign.
Our Women and Girls’ sports project officer Jane Parker followed Mike with a local update about This Girl Can in Herts. With the AGM taking place during our 2016 summer promotional activity week, this was particularity timely and Jane’s passion for her work was very apparent.
A break for lunch gave everyone the opportunity to catch up with colleagues, meet new potential partners and discuss many of the challenges facing local sport in the future. It was a lively and productive networking opportunity that paved the way for our two afternoon workshops.
Both the Mind: Working with Women & Girls and the Parks and Open Spaces sessions were very well attended. Lots of positive feedback about these, and the rest of the day has been received.
