Tring Anglers short listed for Dacorum Sports Awards club of the year was a pleasing recognition of the community efforts of the club, not only of this past year but also all preceding years. Much to the surprise of the Master of Ceremonies at the awards occasion on the evening of Friday 5th October THE TRING ANGLERS became the first Angling club to win the award. I acknowledge the strength of the claims of the other short listed contender clubs , Tring Park Cricket Club and Leverstock Green Lawn Tennis Club, making the achievement all the more pleasing. I am sure both will justifiably win another year.
The Shield remains with the club for one year and the framed certificate will be displayed in the Anglers Retreat, Marsworth when it has done the rounds. A special thanks to all the people who have contributed to the success recognised by this award. Not just the committee and officers but also those members who also go the extra mile when needed. A special mention for the ladies, who allow volunteers not just to go fishing, but spend hours ensuring the future of Tring Anglers.
In common with many other Tring Clubs we continue to punch above our weight in our chosen sport both at a regional and national level. This is reflected in the strength of Tring Sports Forum in looking after and promoting sports activities and its relationship with the community.
