Current activities – our strategy
The strategy for DSN is primarily to deliver clear benefits for clubs – all at no cost and with no membership fees. These include:
- Access to funding opportunities and expertise
- Increasing club membership
- Improving promotion of your club – this includes enabling you to promote your club and its activities on the DSN web site
- Improved information and communication
- Being part of a collective influence and lobbying group for local sport
- Opportunities for networking and sharing ideas with other sports/clubs
We also develop and deliver regular communications via:
- the DSN web site
- regular e-newsletters
- one-off emails on items of major interest to clubs
- our annual general meeting
- workshop or discussion forums
Key partners with whom we seek to engage include –
- National Government – through MPs and Sport England (via HSP)
- Local Government (mainly DBC) – through the portfolio holder, key councillors and officers, plus representation on key bodies (e.g. Destination Dacorum and the Cultural Forum)
- Sportspace – and especially the Sports Development Team
- Schools – via DSSN
We are also be happy to work with other organisations that can demonstrate a willingness to work with us, compliment our objectives and support local clubs.
We ensure that sport is represented where it matters – e.g. by:
- DSN being a Destination Dacorum partner organization and involved in the Cultural Forum
- Identifying and responding to any key opportunities that provide a link between sport and Public Organisations/Administrators
- Responding positively to approaches from Organisations and Administrators seeking access to the local sports community
- Identifying and responding to opportunities to facilitate sports related events/activities by bringing clubs together to deliver them
- Inviting local councilors to meet us at local clubs (attending when clubs are busy or have events on) to demonstrate the role clubs play in Dacorum.
