Dacorum Sports Network undertakes a wide range of projects and activities. These include programmes to encourage children and adults into or back into sport, and promoting stronger links between schools and local sports clubs. We create sporting opportunities for adults and children including those with disability and learning difficulties.
We have staged multi-sport taster days to let children and adults of all ages try their hand at sports including angling, martial arts, squash and hockey. We have helped clubs get funding by identifying new funding opportunities and supporting their applications. This has included administering the £100,000 Olympic and Paralympic fund on behalf of Dacorum Borough Council.
We have helped to organise festivals of sport and culture including a major programme of events leading up to and beyond the 2012 Olympics in London.
In promoting sport and encouraging participation, we have helped clubs to attract new members. And by acting as a communications conduit we have helped pass important information to clubs and ensure they understand the issues and potential opportunities for improving their facilities and management.
Our regular meetings bring clubs and public partner organisations together so that they can all learn from one another share best practice and find better ways to work together. The meetings have also included presentations and workshops on key issues facing clubs and sports providers such as social media, funding, and child protection..
We constantly seek feedback from clubs to help us identify the support they need and will continue to develop our activities to respond to their needs.
