The club has been established on the Leverstock Green site since 1961 and currently has over 400 members. It is run by hardworking volunteers, with an experienced coaching team in place who work closely with the LTA, local council and local schools to promote tennis. Our coaching team comprises Head Coach: Graham Fish and Assistant Coach, Scott Paxton.
WHAT’S ON OFFER FOR ADULT TENNIS…. WEDNESDAY EVENING SOCIAL During the summer months Wednesday evening from 6.30pm is solely for adult Social Tennis. The evening is organized by the head coach and consists of 30-minute sessions, which continue until it gets dark when players can adjourn to the club bar for Nosh @ Nine (home-cooked food prepared by volunteers). The aim is to have fun, try out new shots and meet other players. SUNDAY SOCIAL Sunday mornings from 10.30 until 1pm. This is an opportunity for people to play doubles with a mix of abilities. The games are not formally organized and as each doubles match finishes the groups of four will mix as best they can. One set is the maximum before change over. CARDIO TENNIS To improve fitness Cardio tennis is offered twice a week. Cardio tennis features tennis drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout. Taught by Leverstock’s coaching team, Cardio Tennis includes a warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phase. It’s a great new way to get in shape and to burn calories and anyone can try it. GROUP COACHING Weekly coaching sessions for beginners through to improvers are offered to members and non-members. JUNIORS There is a huge amount on offer for our junior members! A Junior Ladder league and box leagues with youngsters competing on a weekly basis are run over the winter season. This is a great opportunity for the kids to practise match play at an entry level, play competitive tennis and get confidence in organising matches for themselves! Along with the over 6 different squad training sessions the juniors enjoy Friday night social tennis which runs between 6.00 – 8.00pm. This includes tennis coaching and supervised fun activities along with food and drinks. Once a month our older junior members get together between 8pm-10pm. On Saturday morning the club opens its doors to non-member juniors and there are 4 age/ability groups right through from 4 years old to teenagers. These sessions are inexpensive and a great way for the kids to find out if they enjoy the game. Many children at the club have been playing since coming along to the first session aged 4! Experienced juniors are encouraged to become Tennis Leaders. This involves participating in training to enable them to help the senior coaches with junior tennis activities.
